Getting Started with LAEW
LAEW runs locally using the Ollama AI engine. Once installed, it operates entirely on your machine.
No account is required. No cloud dependency. Everything stays local.
1. Download Ollama
Click the download button and select your operating system (Windows)*.
⮞ Currently running on Windows 10 and later — macOS and Linux scheduled for future release.
2. Install Ollama
Run the installer you downloaded and follow the setup instructions.
No login or account creation is required.
3. System Requirements
LAEW is designed for modern personal computers. Performance depends on your hardware and model choice.
- RAM: 8 GB minimum (16 GB recommended)
- Storage: 10–12 GB free space (SSD recommended)
- GPU: optional (8 GB+ VRAM improves performance)
- CPU: modern multi-core processor
- Windows 10 or higher. Linux and macOS support are planned for future releases.
⮞ Lower-spec machine may still run LAEW with reduced performance depending on model size.
4. Launch LAEW
Open the application:
LAEW.exe (inside your LAEW_App folder)
5. Install Your First AI Model
Inside LAEW, open the Models menu.
Recommended starting models:
llama3.1:latest — general-purpose (recommended)
mistral-nemo:latest — solid reasoning model
phi4-mini:latest — lightweight option
The first download may take time depending on model size and connection speed.
6. You’re Ready
Once installed, models run locally through Ollama on your computer.

- Your data remains on your machine
- You can add or change models anytime inside LAEW
